The United Methodist Church’s Discipleship Ministries (formerly the General Board of Discipleship, GBOD) has as its goal to equip the church to make world-changing disciples. The agency currently employs a Director to relate to Camp and Retreat Ministries: Kevin Witt. Kevin serves as an ex-officio member of the UMCRM Association Board and his mission and goals overlap significantly with ours. Kevin provides significant support to UMC Camp & Retreat Ministries through resourcing, training, and communications. Kevin manages the Camp & Retreat Leaders e-Network (CRLN), a large email network connecting faith-based camp ministry leaders for information sharing and mutual support. It is open to anyone from any faith tradition. In collaboration with the Discipleship Ministries staff person, UMCRM has access to WebEx technology, and together we develop a slate of topics and provide leadership for educational webinars benefiting camp and retreat ministry leaders. Enjoy and subscribe to Kevin Witt’s inspirational blog, The Heart of Camp and Retreat Ministry.”
Camp Leaders from all religiously-affiliated camps are invited to join the Camp & Retreat Leaders E-Network. This email network is an excellent resource for information exchange and mutual support with camp leaders from UMCRM, the American Camp Association’s Religiously Affiliated Camps, and others across the U.S. and around the world. Postings include book and web recommendations, faith-based employment opportunity listings, prayer requests, and more. Have a question for your colleagues? E-mail it out to the network, then collate the responses to share back with the network. All are enriched in the sharing of our experiences. There is no cost to participate. Thanks to Kevin Witt, who administers the network on behalf of Discipleship Ministries.
