Description: The conference is seeking a Coordinator of Camping and Retreat Ministries. This is a part-time position. This person serves as the primary staff person responsible for Camping and Retreat ministries of the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference. This person will provide vision and direction to these ministries while being part of a team of staff persons that focus on all of the conference’s priorities. An intentional concern for children, youth and young adults is an integral and vital aspect of this position. This person will work directly with our Camp Directors and the Camping and Retreat Corporations Committee (CRCC Team).

Functions:
• Collaboration with CRCC and Camp directors to set annual goals on camping and retreat ministries; monitor overall camping ministry to ensure proper representation of Christian Camping
• Review and make recommendations for summer curriculum
• Evaluate and implement Bible distribution plans to all summer campers
• Develop ongoing and lasting relationships with local churches
• Maintain regular contact with CRCC Chair, Camping Board Chairs and Site Directors
• Develop campership models that can be replicated in local churches as well as maintenance of conference camping resources

• Maintain confidentiality
• Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks, along with an ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team environment
• Participation in Board functions as ex-officio member as described in camping and retreat center bylaws; provide written reports when necessary
• Ability to work independently, be entrepreneurial, and create and implement new initiatives
• Willingness to provide support for local churches
• Willingness to travel locally, nationally and internationally
Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in outdoor education or a relevant field of study
• Project management skills with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people both internally and externally
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Prior experience in camping and retreat ministry, non-profit, or related fields
