Organization Overview: Camp Henry, an American Camp Association (ACA) certified camp, is a
ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina (DWNC) located at Lake Logan.
The mission of Camp Henry is to offer individuals an experience of the Living God in an
environment of unconditional love, imagination, and engagement. Camp programs include, but
are not limited to, traditional summer camp, family camp, Camp Henry Outdoor School (CHOS),
Leadership Adventure Mission Program (LAMP), and year-round outdoor programming for all
ages.
Position Purpose: To further the mission of Camp Henry through active camper recruitment,
staff recruitment and development, camp management, program development, and financial
management.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
Program Management:
§ Manage and plan all summer camp operations and programming including recruitment,
hiring, training and supervision of all the summer camp staff
§ Ensure that all staff possess necessary certifications and trainings in accordance with
ACA, DWNC, and Camp Henry policies
§ Maintain the certification requirements for ACA
§ Administer camper registration including, but not limited to, registration system set up,
camper cancellations and refunds, family communication, and verification of completed
camper health records
§ Work with Lake Logan Conference Center (LLCC) staff throughout the year to manage
and maintain property and facilities
§ Provide excellent customer service to all program participants and conduct regular
evaluation to ensure quality programming that promotes camper safety, satisfaction, and
retention
§ Lead and engage in the spiritual life of Camp Henry. The camp director is responsible for
nurturing the spiritual and formational goals of the camp program and for integrating
Episcopal Church values
§ Collaborate with Camp Henry Board and chaplains to develop and implement spiritually
grounded, creative, and dynamic camp programming
§ Implement and regularly evaluate crisis, risk management, and healthcare procedures
with assistance from LLCC staff, the Camp Henry Board, and appropriate professionals

§ Develop and manage an annual budget with the DWNC CFO and Camp Henry Board,
creatively driving revenue growth while providing excellent programming
§ Oversee the systematic approach to database management for campers, staff, families,
alumni, and donors
§ Plan, develop, implement, and facilitate creative off-season programs based at Lake
Logan to attract new participants, develop leaders, and meet the needs of DWNC,
schools, and local youth
Bishop’s Staff Member:
§ During summer camp, communicate regularly with the Bishop’s designee, providing
information related to the summer camp staff, equipment, and program as well as all
issues requiring communication with camper families/guardians
§ Attend diocesan events as needed (most importantly the Annual Convention of DWNC)
to provide updates about Camp Henry
§ Visit DWNC churches to promote Camp Henry
§ Work closely with the Diocesan Youth and Young Adults Missioner(s) and parish youth
leaders to support the young people of the DWNC through formation, fellowship, and
resource sharing
§ Actively partner and participate in DWNC youth events planned by the Diocesan Youth
and Young Adults Missioner(s)
§ Visit diocesan youth groups and partner with other youth-serving agencies within WNC
to build and maintain relationships with youth and community
§ Attend Bishop’s staff meetings
Marketing & Development:
§ Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for Camp Henry in
partnership with LLCC
§ Make presentations to congregations and community groups to promote Camp Henry
§ Maintain, update, and promote online presence through website, social media platforms,
and other platforms
§ Design and distribute marketing materials, camp shirts, and merchandise
§ Build relationships with community partners and organizations to recruit campers and
staff
§ Collaborate with Camp Henry/LLCC Board and staff to develop and implement a
comprehensive annual development plan for scholarships, operations, and maintenance
needs
§ Identify and apply for appropriate grants
§ Attend regional camp fairs and other diocesan conventions, as appropriate, to promote
Camp Henry to the wider region
§ Maintain and encourage strong relationships with local parishes, community partners,
families, and donors
§ Work closely with LLCC to promote and organize the Cold Mountain Music Festival,
Camp Henry’s largest fundraiser of the year

Other duties as Assigned
Key Relationships:
§ Reports to the Bishop, in conjunction with Camp Henry Board
§ Works closely with the LLCC Executive Director and staff regarding the operational
needs of the camp program
§ Coordinates with the Diocesan CFO for sound financial management
§ Partners with diocesan staff
Position Specifications:
Education
§ Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience
§ Leadership in church youth ministry, summer camp, and/or outdoor recreation programs
§ Customer service and hospitality
§ Program design and/or ministry
§ Administrative and supervisory experience in an organized camp or similar setting

§ Possess current certification, or willingness and ability to be certified in ropes course
operation and first aid/CPR and WFR.
Other Requirements
§ At least 25 years of age
§ Valid driver’s license
§ Satisfactory driving record & background check
§ Physically able to lift up to 50lbs, walk up to five miles a day, and withstand hot and cold
temperatures for extended periods of time
§ Familiarity with and/or openness to the Episcopal faith and commitment to upholding the
values of the Episcopal Church
§ Competency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software
