The Life Enrichment Center and Warren Willis Camp are a 1000+ bed United Methodist camp and retreat center in Fruitland Park, Florida. Throughout the year they work with diverse groups seeking spiritual and personal retreat as well as running Christ-centered programs and camps on weekends and throughout the summer for adults, youth and families.
We are currently seeking individuals interested in a career in camp and retreat ministry looking for development lead by professionals with years of experience in this field. This is a one-year long internship designed to give interns a broad overview and work experience in camping leadership. At the end of the internship, successful interns can expect to present themselves as viable and experienced hires within the camping and retreat industry. This experience will focus on two main vital areas of camping ministry; program and operations.
Internship Program Tasks would include, but are not limited to:
Designing, planning and implementing summer and weekend camps and retreats
Facilitating the challenge course
Assisting with the After School Adventures program
Organizing recreation equipment
Registration of program participants
Social media and marketing
Internship Operations Tasks would include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with meal preparation and clean up
Housekeeping of guest cabins and rooms
Maintenance of building and vehicles
Reservations and guest preparation
Hospitality and hosting responsibilities
Interns may expect to work up to 40 hours per week. This will include some evenings, weekends or holidays as needed.
Strong relationship with Jesus and a willingness to live in Christian community
Experience and passion for camp and retreat ministry
Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, gifts in hospitality, creativity, flexibility, and ability to work both in a team and independently
Applicant must be 21 years or older
$290 gross per week paid bi-weekly
Housing, including private bedroom and shared bathroom, living, and kitchen space
Utilities in living space
Challenge Course Certification
Attend educational events and trainings
Interns will meet weekly with a supervisor who will oversee scheduling and personal development. Interns will be expected to participate in regular spiritual and community growing functions to provide Christ-centered education and fellowship opportunities with camp staff.
