Description: Site Manager​, Waypost Camp ​(full-time exempt position) Crossways Lutheran Camping Ministries
Waypost Camp is located on one of Wisconsin’s last pristine lakes and provides an incredible opportunity for guests to engage in both faith development and environmental education. As a part of Crossways Lutheran Camping Ministries, Waypost collaborates with the staff and volunteers of two other year-round camps, the administrative office, and 140 ELCA congregations in eastern and central Wisconsin. Member of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and ACA accredited.
Supervisor​: Executive Director ​Supervises​: All year-round and seasonal staff on site, volunteers ​Relates to​: Waypost Site Team, Crossways Leadership Team
Responsibilities​: Responsible for the daily management of the site, including: 1. Deliver hospitality and hosting to all groups on site, and maintain relationships with key camp supporters. 2. Implement camp and congregational programs, including Bible study, retreat activities, outdoor/environmental education, and leadership/discipleship training. 3. Provide financial management and participate in budgeting. 4. Manage property development and maintenance needs. 5. Hire and supervise seasonal and year-round staff. 6. Cooperate with Crossways staff to implement marketing and communication plans. 7. Relate to necessary government, accrediting agencies, and community.
Qualifications: ​Possess a strong faith consistent with the theology and practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Have a minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a camp or similar setting. Possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Willingness to learn and grow, and to collaborate in a team setting. Ability to use and learn appropriate tools and technology. Minimum age 25.
Physical Criteria: ​A qualified candidate is one who is able, with or without accommodations, to: • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly • Endure standing and moving for long periods of time (60 minutes or more) • Identify and respond quickly to visual and auditory input, including those relating to environmental and other hazards, as well as camper and staff behavior • Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces • Director is required to live in the on-site housing provided.
Compensation: ​Includes cash salary of $25,000, health insurance, retirement benefits, on-site housing (including utilities), meals when being served from the site kitchen, use of site vehicle for business travel, reimbursement for all state-required certifications, and continuing education. Moving reimbursement available.
