Legacy Award Honorees

About the award

Since 2011, UMCRM has honored those who especially embody our community’s heritage of servant leadership with the Legacy of Leadership Award. The award is presented at the biennial National Camp & Retreat Leaders’ Gathering. The criteria are:

    1. Nominee is United Methodist or has served in United Methodist Camp/Retreat Ministries for a minimum of 20 years, or more than 50% of their camp/retreat ministry career.
    2. Nominee shall have contributed significantly to the field of Camp/Retreat Ministry through one or more of the following: significant renovation or new development at one or more sites; program innovation and/or expansion; demonstrable excellence in administration and/or fiscal management; significant contribution to the education and/or mentoring of camp/retreat ministry professionals; demonstrable excellence in fundraising/development for camp/retreat ministry; or development and use of unique expertise on behalf of Camp/Retreat Ministry.
    3. Nominee shall have retired from full-time ministry. Nominees need not be living; awards may be made posthumously and received by a family member.

Nominations are accepted from the UMCRM community and are selected by vote of the UMCRM Board of Directors. Nominations for the 2020 awards are being accepted through March 15th. View the nomination form
