Overlook Retreat & Camp Ministries is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, with its scenic mountains, rivers, and wonderful history.
The Camp Director is a full time position and is responsible for all operational aspects of camp including oversight and carrying out of Administrative duties, marketing, fundraising, facilities maintenance, financial management and budgeting, food service, housekeeping, and program responsibilities for the year round camp and retreat center and Summer Camp programs. Additionally, the Camp Director will oversee volunteers and employees, and works closely with donor relationships.
Camp Overlook is situated on 160 acres, consisting of 5 cabins, one lodge, chapel, Dining Hall, family camping area, and three primitive cabin sites. Other features include walking paths, sports fields, picnic shelter, and a swimming pond.
The Camp director will need to be committed to the United Methodist Church and its mission to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world," as well as a personal commitment to the Christian faith and practicing spiritual disciplines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, commitment to guest services, proficient skills and knowledge in maintenance and grounds, and have experience in facilities management. Other skills and characteristics that would greatly compliment the Camp Director position consist of creative thinking, marketing, organizational skills, team building and team development skills, hospitality and a welcoming personality, a visioning and strategic planning, nurturing and loving towards all people.
The Camp Director is accountable to the Overlook Board of Directors.
