As a member of the Desert Southwest Conference Staff, the Camp and Retreat Ministry Intern assists with and learns from all aspects of camp and retreat ministry at the site for a period of 10-12 months. This includes learning, leading, and providing staff support with program, hospitality, food service, maintenance, housekeeping, administration, and outreach as led by the Director and Assistant Director The internship will include specific learning goals for the intern which will be supervised and led by the Directors.

Objectives of the Program: -The intern gains a comprehensive view of all the pieces and parts of camp ministries and operations -The intern participates in the key departments: Maintenance, Food Service, Hospitality, Program, Administration -The intern is offered leadership opportunities and intentional development in both hard and soft skills. -The intern is offered opportunities to grow in a timely manner and is included in a variety of camp meetings and conversations/decisions around camp needs. The intern has fun and is treated fairly.

General Responsibilities: -Demonstrate an appreciation for and understanding of the mission of the Desert Southwest Conference and is dedicated to carrying out its mission. -Partner with the Directors and the other Desert Southwest Camp staff to guide the process for cultivating a camp and retreat ministry which lives into the values and fulfills the goals of the camp and retreat ministries. -As a part of the camp staff, perform duties as assigned to fulfill the overall ministry of the camp, Desert Southwest Camp & Retreat Ministries, and Desert Southwest Annual Conference. -Be involved as a support staff person in all aspects of the site ministry so as to learn in a comprehensive way what is involved in camp and retreat ministry. -As training and learning happen, take on more leadership and supervisory roles within the ministry. -Set realistic and measurable learning goals for the internship which can be regularly reviewed and assessed during the internship process. -Develop a sense of one’s vocation in the world as it relates to God’s calling upon the intern’s life.
