The West River Center is seeking a creative and passionate Food Service Director/Chef.
As the Food Service Director, you will oversee all aspects of the West River Center food service operations including menu planning, ordering, staffing, scheduling, meal service, staff hiring/training and finances. As the Chef, you will have hand-on preparation for the majority of meals and must ensure the food service operations meet all state and local regulations. You will prepare and serve nutritious and delicious meals for up to 300 people, accommodate special dietary needs, and provide proactive hospitality.
The West River Center is a 220-bed camp and retreat center with a mile of waterfront along the West River south of Annapolis, MD. We operate day and residential summer camps (June-August) and host a wide variety of retreat groups throughout the rest of the year (September-May). We are a ministry of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church. Safety is our top priority. Since we work with children, you must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
This position is a year-round, full-time, salaried, exempt position with benefits. You must be at least 21 years old with three years’ experience in food service management, ideally in a camp and retreat center or similar setting. Must have SERVSAFE certification or equivalent or be willing and able to achieve this within a specified time frame after hire. This position will allow you to show off your culinary creativity and be a part of a ministry that seeks to help people grow in their love of God, self, neighbor, and nature.
