This session will be an opportunity for participants to experience sobremesa and to engage with the Bible with your mouths and bellies and to connect with one another in the spiritual practice of eating together. Sobremesa is a Spanish word that loosely translates to “over the table” and it refers to the connection, communion and intimacy that occurs by sharing a meal and lingering in conversation over a table. During this session, participants will learn about the meals and foods that were eaten in Biblical times and have an opportunity to sample some dishes. Participants will also learn how to recreate this workshop to utilize it in their own camp and community as a marketing tool, outreach opportunity and/or special program offering.
