MISSION:
Camp GuilRock’s mission is to “Discover Creation, Experience God and Grow in Faith.” The Camp is located on 210 acres between Greensboro and Reidsville, NC. We offer Summer Day Camp and year-round opportunities for youth retreats, camping, fishing, kayaking, hiking and challenge course activities.
OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for the right person to lead us in growing our ministry by providing a quality ministry of Christian hospitality, intentional spiritual growth, and leadership development. The director is responsible for managing and leading the ministry of the Camp in a year-round setting of natural beauty. Responsibilities include programming, facility services, and serving as the primary ambassador for the Camp.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Mature adult with a deep Christian faith consistent with the standards of the United Methodist Church.
2. Vision, energy and passion for camp and retreat ministry in the outdoors.
3. Creative programming skills including experience and ability to lead.
4. Managing systems (financial and operational) and people.
5. Overseeing buildings and grounds.
6. Bachelor’s Degree in related area (or equivalent experience and training).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Ability to live onsite and provide overall management of the camp and its operations.
2. Create, develop and oversee year-round programs in conjunction with the Board of Directors, local church partnerships and other groups interested in camping experiences to provide a holy place of camp and retreat ministry.
3. Communicate and work with groups and individuals.
4. Management of the camp including scheduling, facility, summer camp, hospitality, group ministry, administration, fund-raising, planning for future growth and grant writing.
5. Promote the ministry of camp to local churches throughout the conference, local community and other potential hospitality groups.
6. Recruit, interview, and with the Board of Directors assist, hire staff and train staff and volunteers. Supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers,
7. Assure the site and all facilities are always in an attractive, safe, well-maintained condition. Assure the site is operated in compliance with all regulations (food service, health, etc.) and the applicable standards of The American Camp Association.
8. Required to become an NSPF Certified Pool Operator and Red Cross First Aid & CPR Certified. ARC Lifeguard Certification is a plus.
Salary Range/Compensation Package: Salary Range is $48,000-50,000. Package includes on-site housing and utilities.
