UMCRM Community Conversations are a free, regular, virtual opportunity to connect and learn together around topics that matter to United Methodist Camp & Retreat Ministry leaders.
Hiring summer staff is one of the biggest challenges for camp leaders today—especially when enthusiastic applicants vanish before day one. How can we improve our hiring processes to reduce no-shows and build a committed team? Join Adam Ledbetter-Bock, Program Director at Chestnut Ridge, for a practical session on refining your summer staff hiring approach. Adam will share tools and strategies that have helped streamline hiring and increase follow-through at his camp, offering insights on leveraging technology and best practices to strengthen staff commitment.
Following the presentation, we’ll open the floor for a group discussion where participants can share experiences, ask questions, and explore effective solutions together. If you’ve ever had a staff member “ghost” before the summer even begins, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss!
Adam Ledbetter-Bock is the Program Director at Chestnut Ridge, where he helps create meaningful camp experiences and develop young leaders.
