Camp Tanako, a camp and retreat ministry of the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church, is seeking a visionary Executive Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for this 78-year-old ministry. Located on over 200 acres in the Ouachita Mountains, Tanako offers summer camp programs for all ages, year-round retreats, and guest group events.
The Board has identified development and fundraising as a central priority for this role: the next Executive Director will lead donor cultivation, grant writing, capital campaign efforts, and relationship-building with churches, foundations, and conference partners — alongside oversight of programming, staff, financial management, and facilities.
Candidates should have a deep Christian faith consistent with the United Methodist tradition, demonstrated experience or clear readiness in nonprofit fundraising, at least three years of experience in camp and retreat ministry or a related field, and strong communication and financial management skills. Experience in a United Methodist setting and familiarity with ACA accreditation preferred. This position includes private on-site housing and utilities.
Salary Range/Compensation Package: Salary commensurate with experience. Compensation package includes private on-site housing and utilities, meals during camp sessions, use of a camp vehicle (or mileage reimbursement), a health insurance stipend, Worker's Compensation, paid time off, and professional development funds.
Application Instructions: Email a cover letter, current résumé, and three professional references (at least one from a ministry or church setting) to Whit Logan, Personnel Committee Chair, at tanakodirectorsearch@gmail.com.
Open until filled.
