The Desert Southwest Conference is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to serve at Camp Mingus Mountain located in Prescott Valley, AZ. This position plays an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming dining experience for campers and staff. The Kitchen Assistant shall be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, dishes, utensils, and dining room while camp is in session. Applicants must reside in a 50-100 mile radius of Prescott Valley, AZ.
Essential Functions:
- Prior to each meal, ensure that the dining room is set up as instructed by the Kitchen Manager.
- Assist in preparing or setting out meals as instructed by the Kitchen Manager.
- Immediately following a meal, empty, clean and sanitize the salad bar and the breakfast station.
- Using state-approved systems, immediately following a meal wash and sanitize all dishes that are used, and put them in their correct storage areas.
- After each meal, sweep the floors of the kitchen, dishwashing area and dining room, using a wet mop to spot treat if there has been wet spillage.
- After each meal, seal and remove all trash bags and take them to the appropriate receptacle. Place new liners in every trash bag.
- At the end of each camp in residence, stack the chairs beneath the windows and fully sweep and mop the dining hall.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- No experience or education is required.
- Must be at least 16 years of age when hired.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a food handler’s permit.
- Understand and accept the mission of the Desert Southwest Conference.
- Perform assigned duties in such a way as to fulfill the overall ministry aims of the camp, Desert Southwest Camp & Retreat Ministries and Desert Southwest Annual Conference.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-40 pounds.
