Camp Lookout is seeking a full-time Program Director to help develop and lead high-quality summer camp and retreat programs throughout the year.
Located on Lookout Mountain just outside Chattanooga, Camp Lookout is a year-round ministry of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. At Camp Lookout, our mission is to build people up by sharing God’s love in community, creation, and adventure, and the Program Director plays a central role in helping make that mission tangible for all those we serve.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both the behind-the-scenes work of planning and administration and the energy of leading people and programs in the field. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising seasonal staff; planning and coordinating summer and year-round programs; supporting camper and guest safety and risk management; coordinating guest groups; managing program logistics, transportation, lodging, and meals; assisting with marketing and recruitment; maintaining ACA accreditation standards; and developing strong partnerships with churches, schools, and community organizations.
We are looking for someone with an active Christian faith, a passion for building community, strong adaptive leadership skills, and at least two years of camp experience. The ideal candidate is someone who is relational, dependable, comfortable giving and receiving feedback, and willing to jump in wherever needed as part of a small, collaborative team. This position requires someone who takes initiative, is highly organized, and who can solve problems creatively and independently. Above all, this person should care deeply about creating a place where campers and guests can experience God’s love through camp.
The Program Director lives and works on-site at Camp Lookout. The position generally follows a Monday-Friday schedule outside of summer, with some evening and weekend responsibilities with compensatory time. Summer hours are more variable and reflect the immersive nature of residential camp leadership.
This is an opportunity to invest in a growing ministry, develop staff and young leaders, strengthen relationships with churches and community partners, and help shape the next chapter of Camp Lookout.
Salary range/Compensation Package: Full-time, salaried position from $35,000 to $40,000 per year with private on-site housing included. Health, vision, dental, and retirement benefits included.
